Ali Abdulemam, known as 'the Baharaini Blogger' co-founded the popular democracy website BahrainOnLine in 1999. He has no particular political allegiance but wishes Bahrainis had freedom to express their aspirations.
Ali is married and has a son and twin daughters.
On 4th September 2010 he was detained prior to trial accused of trying to subvert the regime
Ali has been much affected by the current 'Arab Spring' and his whereabouts are worryingly unknown. Please see this link for latest update:
May 2013. Ali Abdulemam has emerged after two years in hiding. He has been given political asylum by the British Government.
